Meghan Markle and Prince Harry took to their Instagram account to reach out to those who are currently self-isolating because of the coronavirus outbreak. A statement read: “These are uncertain times. And now, more than ever, we need each other. We need each other for truth, for support, and to feel less alone during a time that can honestly feel quite scary.” The Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s response to the coronavirus crisis surprised royal expert Omid Scobie.

Speaking on ABC’s HeirPod, Mr Scobie said: “In the post they talk about uncertain times and we need each other more than ever.

“It goes on to speak about the importance of empathy and compassion.

“I thought it was really interesting that this was a post was so not about them.

“It was just them utilising the 11.3million people following their account where they can create a positive atmosphere they can share content in.”

The royal couple added: “There are so many around the world who need support right now, who are working tirelessly to respond to this crisis behind the scenes, on the frontline, or at home.

“Our willingness, as a people, to step up in the face of what we are all experiencing with COVID-19 is awe-inspiring. This moment is as true a testament there is to the human spirit.

We often speak of compassion. All of our lives are in some way affected by this, uniting each of us globally.

“How we approach each other and our communities with empathy and kindness is indisputably important right now.”

He will continue to work from his apartment while under quarantine, the palace added.

Prince Charles, 71, is feared to be at risk of catching coronavirus after being in close proximity to Prince Albert of Monaco who has a confirmed case of COVID-19, according to ITV’s royal correspondent Chris Ship.

The Duke of Cornwall is in the high-risk category along with wife, Camilla, of catching the disease.

The Prince of Wales has chosen to postpone his spring royal tour after the Government advised against taking part in mass gathering and travel abroad unless strictly necessary.
