Dominic Raab, Foreign Secretary, led the PMQs today as Prime Minister Boris Johnson continues his recovery from coronavirus. But David Mundell MP from the Scottish Conservatives struggled to connect causing quite a stir in the House of Commons. The virtual House of Commons failed at the first hurdle as the live blunder threw PMQs into chaos despite the measures costing a reported £369,267 a month.
Speaker of the house, Sir Lindsay Hoyle announced Mr Mundell was unable to connect.
The Scottish Tory MP would have been the first to ask a question remotely in the historic new Parliament but was quickly replaced by Ian Blackford.
BBC political correspondent Nick Eardley tweeted: “Uh oh. David Mundell in Moffat loses question because of poor connection. Ian Blackford in Skye is up and running though.”
In the Commons, up to 120 MPs were able to take part remotely through video-conferencing.

Experts from the National Cyber Security Centre have advised that the use of Zoom will be appropriate as long as the application’s use is carefully managed.
A number of screens were placed around the Commons chamber to allow the Speaker and MPs in Westminster to be able to see their homeworking colleagues.
