Queen’s Brian May announces live lockdown launch with Kings Daughters | Music | Entertainment

Queen legend Brian May has been keeping fans entertained through the lockdown with micro-concerts and words of comfort and positivity on his Instagram account. And now the 72-year-old has announced a special live lockdown launch party with a Q&A this weekend. May will be teaming up with music trio Kings Daughters, who he is mentoring, after the release of their uplifting single Get Up.

The International Lockdown Launch of Get Up takes places live on Instagram through May’s official account @brianmayforreal on Sunday April 26 at 8pm.

The Queen guitarist wrote on his Instagram: “Yikes !!! LIVE !!! In person !!!

“This will be the very first time I’ve pressed that button and gone live on IG.

“I will have all three of those naughty @kingsdaughterss gals live beside me ready to answer your questions. How ? It’s a secret !”

May and Kings Daughters said in a statement: “Kids and adults of all ages, from all walks of life, will feel the force of optimism and gratitude in this record when they sing and dance along to Get Up at our virtual launch party from isolation where ever they may be.

“Our virtual launch party will unite the world in hope for a better future.”

While an additional statement read: “There will be music, one epic video and stories shared on the creation of the masterpiece that is spreading dance and joy across nations.

“[The event is] in partnership with Mind, the UK’s leading mental health charity needed now more than ever (10% of the purchase of each song goes to the charity).”

In his most recent micro-concert, May praised fans for their “unanimous appreciation” of his Lonnie Donegan cover.

The Queen guitarist played I’m Just a Rolling Stone with himself thanks to a recorded video.

He later wrote on the Instagram post: “Very touched by your comments on this post, dear folks – I don’t think I (or ‘we’ !) ever got such unanimous appreciation !

“Well, thanks – you have cheered me up !!”
