B&Q opening hours: What time does B&Q open near me?
[ad_1]
The UK is now in its fourth week of lockdown and those of us stuck at home are beginning to feel the burn. DIY retailers like B&Q and Homebase have reported record numbers of people trying to access their websites to order supplies by budding home and garden renovators. While many stores remain closed, B&Q have delighted shoppers by reopening over 100 stores across the country this week.
B&Q confirmed 155 branches are open again after 14 stores opened for a trial period at the weekend.
As a hardware supplier, the company is classified as an essential retailer and is therefore not required to close its stores.
Despite this, many are closed in order to protect the health of their staff, including Homebase and Wickes.
The Government has also urged people not to undertake major home renovations as council waste collection services are reduced.
A spokesman for B&Q said: “As an essential retailer, we’re committed to providing the best possible service to support customers’ home improvement needs at this difficult time, while keeping customers and colleagues safe.
“Only products that you can shop and takeaway in store on the day are available to customers.”
You can also still place orders on the B&Q website, although similar delays have been reported, with customers have to wait an hour in a virtual queue at peak times.
The usual delivery services still apply: next day delivery, named day delivery, bulk delivery and click & collect.
You can also still get Sunday delivery and large delivery.
However, in line with social distancing rules, staff will no longer deliver items into customers’ homes – instead, they will place them outside, knock on your door and stay a safe distance away while you retrieve your order.
If you prefer not to open your door, drivers will take a photo of the delivery at your house as proof and will sign on your behalf.
Are other DIY stores open?
Homebase, Wickes, Screwfix stores remain closed at present.
However, they are still accepting online orders for delivery and some branches of each store are accepting click and collect.
