Scarlett Johansson Avengers return: Will Black Widow be her last MCU movie? | Films | Entertainment

Scarlett Johansson has been one of the most famous stars to rise up during the MCU takeover of cinemas. Her work is well-loved and her character – Black Widow – will get her own movie once the coronavirus pandemic allows cinemas to be reopened. However, after this movie, many are concerned we will never see Johansson in an MCU film again.
DON’T MISS…
Will Scarlett Johansson return to the MCU after Black Widow?
There were two shocking deaths during Avengers: Endgame, as well as some sore goodbyes to various stars.
Iron Man (played by Robert Downey Jnr) died after sacrificing himself for the other Avengers, and indeed the world, while Black Widow (Johansson) also died when she sacrificed herself for the Soul Stone.
In so doing, the Avengers were able to bring back the Infinity Stones and defeat Thanos, and the film ended with a distraught Hulk (Mark Ruffalo) seemingly saying goodbye at the death of the woman he loved, while Captain America (Chris Evans) left the Avengers to be with his love, Peggy Carter (Hayley Atwell.)
All in all, Avengers: Endgame was a devastating and satisfying end to the Avengers as we know it, however, fans can revisit the halcyon days of Captain America: Civil War through the upcoming Black Widow, which is set after the events of the break-up of the Avengers.
In the film, Black Widow, AKA Natasha Romanoff, returns to her native Russia to settle some old scores, and possibly even discover new threats which will return in the MCU later on.
But will Johansson and Black Widow return after the movie?
As mentioned, Black Widow sacrificed herself during Avengers: Endgame for the Soul Stone, meaning it is unlikely she can return in the usual timeline.
However, there have been various flashback films set out-of-order with the other movies, such as Captain Marvel, set in the 1990s.
Equally, Captain America’s origin film began in the 1930s, seeing the young Steve Rogers become the superhero who was eventually set on ice.
As a result, it may be if Black Widow is successful, fans may get another glimpse of the superhero through another flashback story.
However, what is more likely is she will return in a different timeline, which will certainly be a feature of upcoming TV series and movies.
The new programme Loki will see the God of Mischief using the Tesseract to jump into timelines, while WandaVision will see the couple, despite Vision’s death at the end of Avengers: Infinity War, living together in what many believe will be an alternate reality.
Along with these, upcoming movies Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness and What If? clearly show alternative timelines or alternate universes and multiverses will be at the core, so fans can definitely expect to see the return of some familiar faces.
Of course, fans have already been teased about Tony Stark AKA Iron Man’s return in Black Widow, as the film is set before the events of Avengers: Endgame, meaning there is no reason why Johansson and her character may not arrive in a future movie.
Black Widow is expected to arrive in cinemas on October 28, if cinemas are able to be reopened
