Meghan Markle news: Prince Harry wife made nod to Diana divorce at wedding reception

Eagle-eyed royal fans noticed Meghan Markle was wearing a huge blue ring on the ring finger of her right hand. Soon it was identified to be Princess Diana‘s aquamarine and diamond ring. Some might have been surprise to see Meghan wearing it, however.
The ring has an interesting history, specifically linked with the divorce of her husband, Prince Harry‘s, parents, Princess Diana and Prince Charles, 72.
An expert revealed all to Express.co.uk.
Alexandra Michell Gemologist Prestige Pawnbrokers of Channel 4’s Posh Pawn said: “Aquamarine’s name is a translation from Latin meaning Water of the Sea, due to its strong blue-green colouration.
“It has been admired since the 2nd century BC, suiting all skin tones, and carrying lore and superstition with it.

Alexandra went on: “This stunning aquamarine ring first appeared on Princess Diana’s finger in the late nineties, when Princess Diana commissioned Asprey’s to create it using a stone that had been gifted to her by her good friend, Lucia Flecha de Lima.
“It was a replacement engagement ring following her divorce from Prince Charles. It is thought the stone came from the famous Minas Gerais mines in Brazil.
“Flanked by trapeze cut diamonds, a mixture of a yellow gold band, and a white gold mount, the emerald cut aquamarine is estimated at 30cts, and as with most high-quality aquamarines, it is clean and has strong and even colouration.
“Princess Diana chose the aquamarine to match her aquamarine and pearl five strand bracelet, which had been a present from the Royal Family. In fact, Aquamarines are one of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s favourite gems.
“When Princess Diana passed, the ring was left to Prince Harry, who gifted it to his bride Meghan. She wore it to their wedding reception in 2018 as a tribute to her late mother-in-law.”
Lorna Haddon, head of diamonds and jewellery at Beaverbrooks, valued Meghan’s ring at “between £120,000 and £150,000.”
She said: “She may have dropped her royal duties, but her ring is definitely still fit for royalty! Meghan’s stunning engagement ring features a classic gold band set with three dazzling diamonds. The larger central diamond is nestled between two smaller brilliant cut diamonds on the shoulders of the ring which emphasises the central piece and creates an eye-catching finish.
“Three stone diamond rings are a popular choice as the ring sits perfectly with a traditional wedding band and eternity band, and shows off a brilliant cut diamond to its full extent. The three stones are said to represent a couple’s past, present and future together – a romantic and meaningful gesture from the prince.
“Harry has followed in his brother’s footsteps and selected diamonds from his mother’s precious collection to create the truly intricate design – a tribute to Meghan’s unique individuality and style.”
