However, just because you’re on Universal Credit it doesn’t mean you will be automatically entitled to the bonus.

The DWP website states: “If you haven’t claimed your State Pension and aren’t entitled to one of the other qualifying benefits, you will not get a Christmas bonus.”

The Government has added a wide range of benefits which people have to qualify for to be eligible for the scheme, in an effort to give as many people the chance to get the bonus as possible.

You only have to receive one of the benefits below, rather than be a recipient of all of them.
