Christmas is just around the corner and supermarkets have already started lining the shelves with festive foods. Tesco and Aldi have shared advice for customers in the run up to the big day.

The supermarket giant will extend opening hours starting on December 14 until Christmas Eve.

More than 300 large branches will be open for 24 hours a day during these dates.

Other branches will have opening times extended by one hour during the same period.

DON’T MISS

While the shops will be open longer in the run up to Christmas, Tesco has asked customers to plan ahead.

Tesco CEO Jason Tarry offered advice to miss the busy period in an email to customers.

He said: “As the festive season approaches, it’s always busier for our stores.

“Please consider shopping a little earlier than you usually would, to avoid the peak festive period.”

A statement from Aldi CEO Giles Hurley said: “The majority of our stores are open from 8am to 10pm every day (Sundays 10am to 4pm) and our amazing colleagues are on hand to help you shop safely and find everything you need in store.

“To help with social distancing, customers are encouraged to shop alone, where possible, and adhere to one person per trolley.

“We will of course allow customers to shop with others, should they have no alternative.

“We are also continuing to increase the availability of our new Click and Collect service, and we have recently announced that over 200 additional stores will be offering this service by Christmas.”
