Cold Weather Payment: DWP confirms postcode triggers – full list where Brits could get £25 | Personal Finance | Finance

A Cold Weather Payment alert has been issued as Britain descends into a cold snap, and gets ready for Storm Christoph to hit. The Cold Weather Payment scheme can provide important financial support, helping Britons with their heating bills in particularly cold temperatures. The DWP winter scheme will see eligible households receive £25 for every seven day period where temperatures plummet below zero.

But it will be important for Britons to note the postcodes which have been affected today, and whether they will receive a payment or not.

The postcodes triggered today are as follows:

Eskdalemuir – DG3-4, DG10-11, DG13-14, ML12, TD7, TD9

Salsburg – EH43-46, G65, G67-68, ML1-3,ML6-11

All Britons will need to do is enter the first half of their postcode and press ‘continue’ to determine if any Cold Weather Payment has been triggered.

For example, if someone’s postcode is LS1 1AG, they will only need to enter LS1 into the postcode checker.

The DWP tool will then provide Britons with information about whether their postcode is due a payment, and how often.

It uses local weather stations to determine the temperature in a person’s area.

The good news, though, is those eligible for a Cold Weather Payment will not have to take any action.

The payment from the DWP should be issued automatically to avoid any confusion on the matter.

Those who have not received the Cold Weather Payment to which they believe they are entitled should take certain actions.

These individuals should tell their Jobcentre Plus Office or pension centre as soon as possible about the situation.

Alternatively, those in receipt of Universal Credit should use their online journal to make an update, or inform the Universal Credit helpline.
