The monarch, 94, normally has a busy schedule with various royal engagements. But an insider has said “It is possible this is the only slight rest she’s ever had in her whole life”. Earlier this month, England was plunged into a national lockdown due to rising COVID-19 cases and deaths.
Britons have been told to stay at home with pubs, restaurants, bars and non-essential shops closed.
The Queen and Prince Philip, 99, have been isolating at Windsor Castle.
But according to one source, lockdown has provided Her Majesty with some much needed rest.
During the pandemic, the Queen has reduced her normal schedule of royal engagements.
An insider told People magazine: “In her twilight years, I’m sure it is quite lovely not to have the pressure.”
They added: “It is possible this is the only slight rest she’s ever had in her whole life.
“She is well. She’s in good fettle.”
Since his retirement from royal duties in 2017, the Duke of Edinburgh normally lives at Wood Farm on the Sandringham Estate.

The couple have been living in the US since March with their baby son Archie.
Speculation about Meghan and Harry’s return to Britain has been rife in recent months as the couple were due to review their Megxit arrangements in March.
The Queen, Meghan and Harry agreed to have a 12-month review with the Palace.
Royal commentator, Daniela Elser, wrote on news.com.au: “On a personal level, everyone from the Queen down would surely be thrilled to have Harry, Meghan and perhaps even Archie back, however, on a regal level, their re-entry into the rarefied royal ecosystem could pose a serious headache for the palace.”
But according to one royal expert, the Megxit review has been cancelled as Meghan and Harry are unable to travel from the US due to the pandemic.
Speaking to True Royalty TV’s Royal Beat, royal expert Katie Nichol said: “My understanding from the Sussexes camp is that there has been communication with the Queen, Prince Charles and with William as well.
“The general feeling is that this [current situation] is working.”
