Prince Harry and Meghan Markle left the UK at the end of March 2020 in an effort to pursue a more financially independent life away from the Royal Family. However, the exit was always agreed to face a 12-month review after which the couple, alongside the Queen and other senior royals, could decide whether they wanted to come back and resume duties or continue their life in the US. Well, that decision was made public today and – unsuprisingly – the Sussexes are staying put in Los Angeles.

Responding to the statement from Buckingham Palace that the pair wouldn’t be coming back, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex have released their own statement on social media.
A spokesperson for the Duke and Duchess said: “As evidenced by their work over the past year, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex remain committed to their duty and service to the UK and around the world, and have offered their continued support to the organisations they have represented regardless of official role.
“We can all live a life of service. Service is universal.”
