A lot is riding on this movie for the future of the DC movie universe.
Fans already know the tone will be lighter than the Justice League movies, but have been expressing concern over leaks surrounding the character’s iconic costume.
A new video leaked online showing the leading man in a dramatic scene kitted out in the colourful red and white superhero costume and cape. Thousand of fans have already watched the footage and not all are impressed by what they have seen so far.
One said: “Nice vid, the cape looks kinda weird or is it just me?” Another added: “That’s not Shazam, it’s Jingle All the Way Part 3.”
The movie is currently shooting in Toronto, Canada.
A local man, Jeremy Lawrence, spotted a scene being filmed directly opposite his building and shared the video online.
It shows a dramatic rescue scene but also shows Levy goofing around. Whether this is part of the scene or the comedic actor having some fun in between takes is impossible to tell. Either way, it is a good indicator of a the lighter tone that will reflect the beloved source material.
Shazam! aka Captain Marvel, is powerful superhero and alter ego of a boy called Billy Batson. He becomes the superhero when he says the magic word Shazam! and is imbued with six extraordinary powers.
Represented by each of the letters of his superhero name he has the wisdom of Solomon, the strength of Hercules, the stamina of Atlas, the power of Zeus, the courage of Achilles, and the speed of Mercury.
Levi plays the superhero with child star Asher Angel stars as Billy Batson and Mark Strong as the villain, Dr Thaddeus Sirvana.
Shazam! will be released in UK cinemas on April 5, 2019.
