Aldi’s famous hanging egg chair went back on sale on Sunday. Some customers waited in a virtual queue from as early as 6am, even though the product did not go on sale until 8am. By 8.10am, the chair was sold out.
More than 130,000 people waited in the virtual queue to get their hands on the elusive item which costs £149.99. Many took to social media to express their fury, with one sharing an image of Aldi’s sold out notice and captioned it: “Easier to get a ticket to Glastonbury.”
Another person wrote: “Go to checkout…. get this message. Then says sold out. This happened last time too. It is ridiculous. You know the demand for this item. Just get enough.”
A third shopper said: “Been refreshing page since 8am, when launched, showing ‘coming soon’ now suddenly sold out!! How, when never available online?”
An Aldi spokesperson said: “We are sorry that some shoppers were unable to get their hands on an egg chair, however, demand has been extremely high.

Earlier this month, up to 35,000 shoppers were stuck in a virtual queue as all of them wanted to get their hands on the egg chair before it sold out.
Soon after that, when the egg chair went on sale again, up to 16,000 customers waited in line for the product.
The chair’s popularity could be due to the fact that both Mrs Hinch and Stacey Solomon are fans, having posted images of similar chairs on their social media accounts. Aldi’s hanging egg chair is also cheaper than most chairs in similar styles.
