Game of Thrones ENDING: George RR Martin on how final book will DIFFER | Books | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Next month Game of Thrones season 8 will complete HBO’s TV adaptation of A Song of Ice and Fire. But with two books (The Winds of Winter and A Dream of Spring) still to go in George RR Martin’s book series, just how different will the endings be? Now the 70-year-old author has teased that the major plot points of the TV show will be the same as what he has planned for the books. Speaking with Rolling Stone, the author only hinted at what he has intended but was clear enough.

Speaking with The Hollywood Reporter, Martin admitted he hasn’t had time to visit the Game of Thrones final season set due to his writing commitments.

The author said: “Going to set is a lot of fun but there’s nothing for me to do there, so I thought I better stay home and not go to Croatia; or Spain; or Belfast, [Northern] Ireland. I still have two books to write.

“I’m working on [The Winds of Winter], and I wish I’d been done four years ago.

“But I’m slow and the book is very complex, although there are a lot of great distractions out there.”

FRESH HINT FROM GEORGE RR MARTIN THE WINDS OF WINTER IS ALMOST FINISHED?

A Dance With Dragons, the last book released in the series, was published in 2011. This was when the TV show’s first season debuted starring Sean Bean.

Assuming The Winds of Winter is released later this year or next, A Dream of Spring will surely be several years away yet.

Maybe with the TV show out the way, Martin will be able to focus on finishing his epic.

Although with a prequel series in the works this year, there’s plenty of distractions around for him.
