Princess Diana questioned if she was ‘good mother’ after not seeing sons ‘for months’ | Royal | News

The Princess of Wales would often spend time apart from her sons due to the nature of her royal duties. According to journalist Petronella Wyatt, the late royal would worry about being a good parent and being able to spend more time with William and Harry.
Ms Wyatt recalled meeting Diana at a dinner in 1995 where she candidly opened up about her struggles as a mother.
Speaking to the Sun, Ms Wyatt said: “We sipped more wine, and she looked over the rim of her glass with those famous eyes of hers.
“’I worry about my sons. Am I a good mother? I don’t see them for months and then I spoil them rotten,’ she sighed. ‘Sometimes I’d like a time machine.’”
The journalist described the warm evening when she met Diana at an intimate dinner party just two years before the royal tragically died.
She said: “I had the pleasure of dining with the late Princess Diana at a friend’s house in London, two years before she died.
“I had met her before, at parties given by mutual friends, but we had never really talked at length nor in an intimate setting.
“On this occasion it was a small dinner, in the summer of 1995. It was an infernally warm evening and we were all standing around with our wine glasses, perspiring and complaining about the heat. And then Diana arrived.”
Ms Wyatt went on to label the effect the Princess had when walking into a room as “magic”.
