The European royal family rivalling the UK with the most expensive tiara collection

The British royal family might be considered one of the most popular royal families in the world, but with 25 other monarchies currently active, many have a history of expensive pieces. But which one has the most expensive collection?
A recent study by money.co.uk and jewellers at Steven Stone, revealed which are the European royal families with the most expensive tiara collection.
The research unveiled the United Kingdom and the Netherlands as the countries with the most expensive royal tiaras.
Based on the three most recent weddings in the two countries, the cost of the worn tiaras came out at a staggering £17 million each.
In the UK, Meghan Markle, Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice were the last members of the royal family to wear a tiara.
Meghan Markle picked the Queen Mary Bandeau tiara, which belonged to Queen Mary.
Queen Elizabeth’s grandmother worn that tiara when she married King George V in 1893.
It is believed to have a cost of around £2 million.
The Greville Emerald Kokoshnik tiara Princess Eugenie wore for her wedding is said to be the most expensive of the royal tiaras, valued at £10 million.

The tiara was hand made by Boucheron in 1919 and it originally belonged to the heiress Mrs Greville, who was a friend of the Queen Mother.
Princess Beatrice of York chose the Queen Mary Fringe Tiara when marrying Edoardo Mapelli Mozzi on 17 July 2020.
The 47 diamond gold and silver piece is valued at £5 million.
Data from money.co.uk also revealed that the astonishing UK tiara collection costs the royal family £297,466 a year to insure.
But the UK shares the top slot with the Netherlands as the price of the three most recently worn tiaras by the Dutch royal family is also estimated at £17 million.
The most recent tiara worn by a member of the Dutch royal family is the beautiful Dutch Star tiara, chosen by Queen Máxima at her wedding in 2002.
Following behind in second place is Norway, with a combined worth of £15,5 million for the three most recently worn wedding tiaras.
Crown Princess Mette-Marit is the most recent royal in Norway’s monarchy to wear a tiara at her wedding to heir apparent Haakon in 2001.
Spain’s collection of tiaras is valued at £7,5 million being Queen Letizia the last one to sport one.
She chose the stunning Prussian Diamond tiara during her wedding in 2004.
Almost at the bottom of the rankings is Sweden with their tiaras valued at just over £5 million.
The monarchy with the least expensive collection is Liechtenstein, with a worth of only £1,8 million.
Liechtenstein is known for re-wearing jewellery, with the Hapsburg Fringe tiara often being worn by royal brides.
