On Friday, the Duke of Cambridge attended an annual fundraiser at the Guards Polo Club, helping raise “significant funds” for charities he supports. The founder and CEO of Tusk – an African conservation charity – took to Twitter to praise the Duke’s efforts in this year’s match.

Charlie Mayhew tweeted: “So grateful to #PrinceWilliam for playing in today’s Royal Polo Charity Cup at @guardspoloclub raising significant funds for @tusk_org and his other charities at a time when fundraising has been so challenging.”

Royal fans on the social media platform joined Mr Mayhew in applauding the Prince.

One person wrote: “That’s our future king!”

Another user added: “Finally polo again.”

A third commenter said: “I love seeing the family and traditions and good behaviours and good sports.”

The Out-Sourcing Inc Royal Charity Polo Cup 2021 is an annual fundraising event that brings together some of the biggest names in polo.

Kensington Palace released a statement announcing William’s involvement in the match ahead of Friday.

It stated: “The Duke of Cambridge will take part in the Out-Sourcing Inc Royal Charity Polo Cup 2021 at Guards Polo Club, on Friday 9th July.

“Money generated will go to organisations including Centrepoint, East Anglia Children’s Hospices (EACH), Family Action, Fields in Trust, The Forward Trust, London Air Ambulance, Mountain Rescue England and Wales, and Tusk.”
