Gareth Southgate’s brilliant reaction to Luke Shaw’s Euro 2020 final goal | Football | Sport

England head coach Gareth Southgate was the calmest man in the country as Luke Shaw smashed home the opening goal of the Three Lions’ Euro 2020 final vs Italy.
Shaw met Kieran Trippier’s pinpoint cross to put England into the lead in their first major tournament final since 1966.
Captain Harry Kane led a counter-attack in the second minute and found Trippier in lots of space on the right of the Wembley pitch.
Kyle Walker overlapped his former Tottenham team-mate to create space for the now-Atletico Madrid man to deliver into the penalty area.
Trippier’s cross was excellent and found his opposite wing-back Shaw onrushing towards the back post.
The Manchester United star, who had scored just three goals in his career before tonight, struck a volley into the net via the post.
It was a goal that sent the country into raptures, including those inside Wembley.
Shaw led the Three Lions’ jubilant celebrations next to the corner flag.
But the one man who remained calm was boss Southgate.
The 50-year-old watched on from the touchlines and let out a small fist pump when the ball hit the net.
