The Pitchess Detention Center in Castaic reported an altercation between deputies and inmates.

Officials have reported 17 people sustained injuries – and that most of the injured are inmates.

Shawn Dubusky, L.A. County Sheriff’s Department spokesperson, said “several inmates and a few deputies were involved in an altercation”, but no more information is available at this stage.

The Los Angeles County Fire Department received reports of a medical emergency at 3.11pm, according to spokesperson Sean Ferguson.

Details about the conditions of the injured are not currently available.
