Boris Johnson ‘uncomfortable’ about Freedom Day after Covid cases soar – body language

Prime Minister Boris Johnson took to Downing Street on Monday as he announced the country would go ahead in moving to the last step of his roadmap for easing lockdown restrictions. From July 19, all social measures will be removed in England while Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland have their own rules. Boris Johnson has been criticised by many for reopening despite rising infection rates across the UK as a result of the Delta variant first identified in India.
According to one body language expert, Mr Johnson is “uncomfortable” about ploughing ahead with restrictions easing, which have already been delayed four weeks.
The team at Cards Chat have teamed up with a body language insider in a bid to analyse the Prime Minister’s behaviour while making announcements through Downing Street over the last week.
The expert said: “During Boris’s announcement on Monday [July] 12, the signs of no confidence within his own speech were shining through.
“As soon as Boris’s speech starts he greets the camera with a false smile and almost immediately starts shaking his head while talking.

“If you take a close look, you will notice that Boris is blinking rapidly throughout his announcement – he blinks so rapidly throughout that it’s impossible to keep track of.
“One of the main tell-tale signs of a liar is rapid blinking.
“If someone’s blink rates rise while a certain topic is being discussed, it’s most likely to be a sign of them feeling uncomfortable and caught in their own lie – highlighting the winner stress they’re feeling.
“You’ll notice throughout Boris’s announcement, and across many of his past announcements, his eyes are darting across the room.”
July 19 will mark a momentous day for a Britain that’s been grappling with COVID-19 for the best part of 16 months.
Social distancing and mask wearing will be scrapped with the exception of some enclosed areas, while nightclubs will reopen for the first time since 2020.
Festivals are back on the cards, while double vaccinated Brits can return from amber list countries without needing to quarantine, meaning travel is much easier for millions.
To their critics, the Government has argued that if it doesn’t take the step to ease lockdown now, “there will never be a perfect time because we simply cannot eradicate this virus”.
Health Secretary Sajid Javid said: “Whether we like it or not, coronavirus is never going away.”
