Despite Harry and Meghan stepping down from royal duties, their daughter Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Windsor is still eighth in line to the throne. However, the Royal Family’s website, which includes information to keep fans up to date with the House of Windsor, had still not updated the line of succession to reflect her birth on June 4.
Now the couple’s biographer Omid Scobie has written on Twitter: “The the line of succession on the @RoyalFamily website has just been updated to include the Sussexes’ second child: Miss Lilibet Mountbatten-Windsor, who is eighth in line to the throne. She was born on June 4.”
ITV Royal Editor Chris Ship said last week that the Royal Family was perhaps “making a point”.
Speaking on the Royal Rota podcast, he said: “You have got to ask what has taken them so long.
“All they have got to do is hit the paragraph button and put in a different number.
“They must have done it before. They did it for Archie. Clearly they did it for Louis when he was born.
“And they have done it for some of the other children like August that have been born as well.
“So where’s Lilibet? I can forgive them a week or two but a month?
Mr Ship went on to say the delay in adding her name seemed “a little petulant”.
Penny Junor, Harry’s biographer said: “A christening should be a lovely, happy event with people pleased to see each other.
“If the relationship is as frosty as it is for the foreseeable future then I can’t see it being that type of affair.”
Their oldest son Archie was baptised at St George’s Chapel when he was born in 2019 by the Archbishop of Canterbury.
But the Queen did not attend the 2019 Windsor ceremony due to prior commitments.
It comes after Prince Harry announced last week he was planning to release a memoir.
He said he will share the “highs and lows” of his life as a royal in his autobiography, which will be released during the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee next year.
He said: “I’m writing this not as the prince I was born but as the man, I have become.
“I’ve worn many hats over the years, both literally and figuratively, and my hope is that in telling my story—the highs and lows, the mistakes, the lessons learned—I can help show that no matter where we come from, we have more in common than we think.
“I’m deeply grateful for the opportunity to share what I’ve learned over the course of my life so far and excited for people to read a firsthand account of my life that’s accurate and wholly truthful.”
