TikTok user @sisterpledgecleans recently went viral on the video-sharing platform after revealing a life hack that has become “unconscious standard practice” for her. The lady claims that her trick will put an end to an issue which plagues the nation every time we get to enjoy some warmer weather.

In the video, the cleaning enthusiast can be seen using water to wash out two small wheelie bins.

Once they are clean, she adds a lot of table salt to the bottom of each bin.

As she does so, she says: “Here’s a great hack for stopping flies in your bins.

“Sprinkle a generous amount of table salt in the bottom of clean bins.

“The salt soaks up any leaked fluid and flies and maggots die when they feed on it.”

Since being posted, the video has been watched over four million times and liked by more than 400,000 users.

The incredibly simple hack has been met with an array of praise from TikTokers intending to use it.

One said: “Oh thank you!!!! Our black bin is full of flies yet our compost/food bin isn’t, makes no sense.”
