She may have dated Elvis Presley almost 50 years ago, but Linda Thompson still looks back fondly on her four-year romance with The King of Rock and Roll. Now in one of her latest Instagram posts, the 71-year-old has reposted a touching photo presentation of her and The King, originally shared on a page dedicated to their relationship from 1972-76. Linda captioned it: “Since it’s Throwback Thursday, and I was so moved by this beautiful presentation @elvis_and_linda_gram – I had to re-post it!”

Linda added: “Thank you, dear Laura, for doing such a great job on this & everything you post! I appreciate your love and loyalty…”

The video slideshow features Elvis singing For The Good Times, which includes lyrics reflecting their relationship.

They read: “Still I recall all the good times together. The love we shared, the fun and the laughter

“How I wish you could feel what my heart says tonight dear. I miss you and I wish you were here.”

The various couple shots include snaps of Elvis and Linda out and about, posing at events together and at karate class.

Linda has also paid tribute to The King during Elvis Week this month, including sharing photos of herself at his funeral on August 18, 1977.

The couple had broken up amicably around Christmas 1976, as Linda wanted a more normal life.

The pair remained friends during Elvis’ final year, while The King’s last girlfriend was Ginger Alden who tragically discovered his body after he suffered a fatal heart attack on the toilet.

Linda added: “We lived together at Graceland, in California, & on the road touring. “We held each other‘s hearts, shared secrets, laughed and loved deeply.

“That’s someone you never forget… May God rest his beautiful soul.”

While in another post she thanks The King’s fans, writing: “Elvis would be astonished, staggered, humbled, & deeply gratified to know that he is still loved & remembered all these years later…

“Thank you to all the true fans for never letting his legacy nor his music die.”
