Kate and Pippa Middleton: Professional hairstylist shares tips to recreate hairstyles

[ad_1]

The Duchess of Cambridge and her younger sister Pippa Middleton are modern hair icons, known for their timeless elegant brunette locks and signature bouncy blow-dry. Both are mothers of young children, but are still never seen without their perfectly blow-dried hair. The two sisters have to balance their many professional engagements, but both manage to keep their locks in check.

Remington Session Stylist, Kieran Tudor, has taken a look back at the Duchess of Cambridge’s hair changes particularly over the lockdown periods over 2020-2021 and has created a guide on how to perfect a voluminous blow-dry to emulate the Middleton sisters.

Kieran spoke exclusively to Express.co.uk about how to recreate this iconic hairstyle.

Kieran said: “What better time to switch up your look or reinvent your style than during this downtime, just like Kate!

“If you’ve been a long-term wearer of a centre parting, add some regal glamour to your waves by creating a deep side parting.”

To achieve Kate’s undone relaxed style, Kieran says you will need a handful of hair clips to section your hair, and your curling wand and an optional texturising spray.

Kieran recommends the PROluxe Curling Wand from Remington: “The PROluxe wand uses clever OPTIheat technology which means not only does your hair look glossy, but the curl stays in place for longer!

“Ensuring your hair is completely dry and beginning with the back sections, clip the rest of your hair up and out of the way.

“Bring the left section forward over the left shoulder and wind a two to three-inch section of hair around the wand, leaving two inches straight at the end for a modern vibe. Repeat this with the right section over the right shoulder.

DON’T MISS:

“Continue taking sections of hair working up the head as you go, alternating the direction you wind the hair for natural-looking waves.

“Once you reach the hair that frames your face, ensure you wind these sections away from your face.

“After all the hair has been waved, use your fingers to separate the curls and shake the hair through, finishing with a dry texture spray for volume and hold.”

Mastering a bouncy blow-dry, just like Kate and Pippa’s signature style can be a challenge.

Remington’s Session Stylist Kieran revealed his top-secret tip to Express.co.uk to achieve the perfect blow-dry.

He recommends, instead of using a traditional hairdryer, pick up a hot brush – in particular, the Curl & Straight Confidence Air Styler from Remington.

Kieran says: “The versatility of the Air Styler comes from its numerous styling attachments, which allow you to blow dry, detangle, straighten and curl the hair all with one easy-to-use tool.

“A great extra feature is the Air Styler’s ionic conditioning which lets you kiss goodbye to any unwanted frizz, and hello to silky smooth locks, just like the Duchess.

“Beginning with wet hair, use the concentrator attachment to blast your hair until it’s roughly 70 percent dry.

“Switching to the paddle brush attachment, take a section of hair from the back of the head and place the teeth of the brush at the root.

“Slowly glide the brush through the hair through to the tips, using the teeth to lift the roots to add volume where necessary.

“Using the tong attachment, add shape and movement at the front of the head by placing a section of hair into the clip and using the button to rotate the hair around the barrel, ensuring you rotate the section away from your face.

“Release the button once the section of hair is fully wrapped around the barrel, applying the heat setting for six seconds, then following with six seconds of the cool shot to set the curl.

“Open the tong clip and slide the barrel out of the hair, before using your fingers to loosen the curl, finishing with hairspray as desired.”
