Priscilla Presley has become a well known celebrity over the years, speaking out about her life with Elvis. Their daughter, Lisa Marie, has continued in her father’s footsteps as a performer, ad the pair have been close for years. But who is Priscilla and who will play her in the upcoming Elvis biopic?

Priscilla Ann Wagner was born in May 1945 in Brooklyn, to a Norwegian mother and US navy pilot father.

Her father died when Priscilla was just six months old, and her mother remarried a US Air Force officer Paul Beaulieu within a year, meaning Priscilla took her stepfather’s name.

The family moved around air bases for years, including a short stint in Germany where Priscilla and her family were forced to live in a brother due to the scarcity of housing at that time.

During Elvis’ army career in Germany, he met Priscilla who was then just 14 years old, and the pair were rarely separated during Elvis’ time in Germany.

In the summer of 1962, after the pair had kept in touch for years, Priscilla parents let her visit Elvis’ home at Graceland for two weeks, and soon enough she was allowed to move to Memphis for good in March 1963.

Priscilla lived in a separate house on the Graceland estate with Elvis’s father and stepmother, but eventually began to move her things into Graceland, which was allowed by her parents so long as Elvis agreed to marry her.

In 1966, Elvis proposed, and though there are differing reports about whether this was what Elvis wanted to do, the pair married in Las Vegas on May 1, 1967, and included a huge number of press members.

Soon after their marriage, she discovered she was pregnant, and was initially upset at the idea of such an early pregnancy given they had not spent a long time together.

She gave birth to Lisa Marie on February 1, 1968, and soon after the marriage began to sour.

With Elvis regularly away and seeing other women, Priscilla decided to focus on a hobby while she spent time away.

She began taking karate lessons from Mike Stone, on Elvis’s suggestion, and soon began an affair with him, which seemed to be something Elvis was aware of.

Priscilla also said Elvis changed a great deal during their time together, saying he was no longer “the gentle, understanding man I grew to love.”

In 1972, they separated and filed for a legal separation on July 26, after which Elvis filed for divorce on January 8, 1973, which was his 38th birthday.

Elvis is reported to have struggled a great deal at this time, even allegedly making inquiries to have Mike Stone killed.

The divorce was finalised in 1973, and the pair attempted to stay close after their divorce, with Priscilla named as one of the executors of his will after his death.

Following her divorce, Priscilla set up a joint venture with her friend, opening a clothing boutique called Bis & Beau, but the shop closed in 1976.

Priscilla turned her attention to Graceland after Elvis’ death, and was instrumental in trying his lack of fortune into something substantial for Lisa Marie to inherit, turning the house into a tourist attraction and helping the trust fund to soar to $100million.

She launched perfumes, produced movies and is expected to produce an animated series about Elvis’s work as a spy for the US government, in conjunction with Sony Pictures.

Priscilla has done a great deal of acting, charity work and activist work as well as upkeep of the Graceland estate.

She has also had further high profile romances, including with Robert Kardashian, father of Kim, Kourtney and Khloe.

Who is playing Priscilla in the upcoming biopic?

Australian actress Olivia DeJonge is playing Priscilla in the biopic, which is currently unnamed.

Filming began early this year in Australia, with the movie also starring Austin Butler as Elvis and Tom Hanks as Colonel Tom Parker, Elvis’ manager.

The film is being made by Baz Luhrmann, and is expected to cover Elvis’s career in the 1950s and 1960s.
