Sophie, Countess of Wessex: Her Aquamarine Tiara is ‘daring’ choice – pictures

“In 2015, Sophie wore the Wessex Aquamarine Necklace Tiara while pairing it with a sizeable aquamarine pendant, to the wedding of Sweden’s Prince Carl Philip and Sofia Hellqvist.
“What makes this quite a daring coupling is that the aquamarine in the tiara appears to have a more green hue than some aquamarines which are typically blue in colour, while the aquamarine pendant is much more of a bright blue, making the combination with her lilac dress that day, exceptionally eye-catching.
“The first time Sophie was seen wearing this tiara publicly was in 2005 at an opera gala during Prince Albert of Monaco’s enthronement celebrations.
“A convertible tiara, it allows for the central aquamarine to be removed and worn as a pendant.
“In 2006, Sophie donned the tiara in its spectacular necklace form at the Childline & Mission Enfance Royal gala dinner in London.”
