Jewellery experts at Steven Stone looked back at Princess Diana’s most iconic jewellery moments to place an estimated value on some of her most famous pieces. Leading diamond expert Max Stone said: “Princess Diana wore jewellery in a unique way, knowing exactly how to make each piece stand out. From remodelling brooches into necklaces to wearing chokers as headbands, she set some huge trends and showcased her jewels in a unique way.” Princess Diana is one of the world’s most influential women, who is commemorated for her philanthropy, kindness, and beautiful approach to life, but also for her incredible style.
It was worn by the Princess of Wales on many occasions and is definitely one of her most iconic, statement pieces.
In 1985, she was pictured wearing it during a dance with John Travolta at the White House.
In 1994, she wore it with her well-known ‘revenge dress’ during the day Prince Charles admitted to his affair with Camilla Parker Bowles.
Max Stone said: “Princess Diana was a clear fan of sapphires and just like her engagement ring, she only wore the most beautiful deep, blue stones.
DON’T MISS:
“Looking at the image of the huge stone, it could be anywhere from 50 to 70 carats in weight, maybe even heavier.
“With that in mind, it could be worth anywhere from £50,000,000 to £100,000,000.
“This is probably one of the most expensive jewels from the entire Royal collection.”
September marks the month of the sapphire.
One of the world’s most incredible sapphire stones was indeed owned by Princess Diana.
Diana famously wore this incredible sapphire and pearl choker with her ‘revenge dress’ on the night Prince Charles confessed he had been unfaithful to her on national television.
Whilst the stunning Little Black Dress made royal fans’ jaws drop, jewellery experts at Steven Stone were enthralled by the huge sapphire that sat around the Princess’s neck.
After taking a close look at the necklace, leading diamond expert Max Stone revealed that the sapphire on the necklace was originally part of a brooch, gifted to her by the Queen Mother on her wedding day.
According to Max, it looks to be around 70 carats, which is over five times the size of the stone in her engagement ring.
Considering the size of the stone and the legacy of Princess Diana, this necklace could now be worth up to £100,000,000.
Sapphires have been used to protect against negative energies, as well as calm the mind, strengthen intuition, and invite spiritual clarity.
Perhaps this is why Princess Diana wore the piece with her ‘revenge dress’ that day to give her some peace of mind, despite being potentially distraught by the news.
