Additionally, claimants will qualify automatically if they’re eligible and get either a state pension or another social security benefit (not Housing Benefit, Council Tax Reduction, Child Benefit or Universal Credit).

Eligibility for WFP is dependent on where claimants are based during a specific week of this month.

People will qualify for WFP if they were born on or before September 26, 1955, and they lived in the UK for at least one day during the week of September 20 to 26 2021, just over a week away.

If a claimant is not in the UK during this period, they may still qualify if they live in Switzerland or a European Economic Area (EEA) country and they have a genuine and sufficient link to the UK, which can include having lived or worked in the UK, and having family in the UK.

A person will not qualify for WFP if they are in hospital getting free treatment for more than a year or were in prison during the qualifying week.

Claimants who need permission to enter the UK and whose granted leave states they cannot claim public funds will also be ineligible.
