Royal Family members are expected to stick to certain codes of conduct which even extend to their fashion choices. While Kate, Duchess of Cambridge is hailed for her sense of style she recently breached one traditional royal fashion rule.
Different customs apply for royal men and women and Kate, generally adheres to these restrictions.
For women these include not wearing heavy makeup, sticking to nude or pale nail varnish and not wearing strappy tops or dresses – shoulders must be covered.
While Kate’s black Dolce and Gabanna skirt suit sent fans into a spin as she paid a visit to a creative workshop at Evelina London Children’s hospital, there was one small detail which was not quite right.
Kate wore black tights to match her boucle ensemble but according to royal custom female members of the Firm should stick to nude stockings.

So Kate’s black tights mean she was in breach of an established royal dress code.
Eagle-eyed royal watchers also spotted the Duchess was without her iconic diamond and sapphire engagement ring.
The accessory is usually a staple feature of Kate’s outfits, however, as she got stuck into a creative workshop alongside youngster it became obvious why she may have chosen to leave the priceless piece at home.
She paired the chic outfit with a pair of black suede block heels and delicate Mappin & Webb earrings.
Prince William gave an emotional reading at the service at which 75 candles were lit to mark 75 years since the liberation of Auschwitz.
Speaking to a group following the service, Kate revealed how it had moved her.
She said: “It was so emotional, so many moving stories.”
Kate thanked another group for sharing their heartbreaking stories and said she was humbled by them.
She said: “It’s so humbling to hear the gratitude from people, despite what you have gone through. It’s heartbreaking to hear.”
