Since One Direction split up each of the band members have explored different ways of expressing themselves musically. Harry has been arguably one of the most successful stars from the band, winning Grammy Awards and hosting shows such as The Late Late Show with James Corden and Saturday Night Live. One of his biggest hits, Watermelon Sugar, has made waves since its release in 2020, but its meaning has perplexed people.

Well, fans can now relax as Harry has finally cleared up the meaning behind the track – and it isn’t exactly what they thought.

The 27-year-old singer is currently on his world tour where he has been playing in America.

During a recent concert in Nashville, he confirmed what many people have assumed about Watermelon Sugar.

Speaking about the track, Harry told his audience: “It doesn’t really matter what it’s about. It’s about the sweetness of life.”

He then leaned in to add: “It’s also about the female orgasm - but that’s totally different, it’s not really relevant.”

Fans also suggested the song was generally about sex.

After Harry released Watermelon Sugar in May 2020, from his second solo album Fine Line, it hit number one in the singles charts in both the US and Canada.

It only hit number four in the UK, but ultimately went 2x platinum.

To date, the track has sold more than 10 million copies worldwide.
