Spider-Man Tom Holland: ‘No Way Home is the end of the series’ – ‘Never cried like that’ | Films | Entertainment

At the end of the year the newest Spider-Man film, No Way Home, is hitting cinemas. The third Marvel-led Spidey movie will continue the story of Peter Parker (Tom Holland) which was last left off in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Holland has now confirmed, however, that this epic team-up movie will be his last for the MCU.

Holland confessed: “We were all treating [No Way Home] as the end of a franchise, let’s say.

“I think if we were lucky enough to dive into these characters again, you’d be seeing a very different version. It would no longer be the Homecoming trilogy.”

He added: “We were definitely treating [No Way Home] like [the series] was coming to an end, and it felt like it.”

On whether the Marvel hero would be making a return, the British star said: “We would give it some time and try to build something different and tonally change the films.

Spider-Man was first introduced in the MCU in the 2016 film Captain America: Civil War.

His story was continued in Spider-Man: Homecoming, Avengers: Infinity War, Avengers: Endgame and, most recently, Spider-Man: Far From Home.

It has been heavily suggested that No Way Home will include the previous iterations of Spider-Man, played by Andrew Garfield and Tobey Maguire.

Holland has since confirmed that moving away from this lineage of films has definitely left him very emotional.

Holland added: “So, sharing that moment with them was maybe the best day I’ve ever had on set. I don’t think I’ve cried like that ever.”

This is not the first time Holland has spoken out about the end of his Spider-Man journey.

Speaking in March, the star revealed: “We haven’t got long filming now and it’s quite sad because this is the end of my contract after this film is up.

“I really don’t know what the future holds, so I am just savouring every moment, as it could potentially be the last.” (Via GQ)

Despite his Marvel contract coming to an end, Holland confessed he would “absolutely” want to continue his journey as Peter Parker.

He revealed: “Maybe I’m already signed up for Spider-Man 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 without even knowing it!”

However, he has one stipulation for returning: “We’d need to keep the same core team. The director, Jon Watts, is as much Spider-Man as I am. Zendaya, Jacob [Batalon].”

Spider-Man: No Way Home hits cinemas on December 17, 2021.

The Marvel franchise is available to watch on Disney Plus now.
