Mum sent note from neighbour asking her to remove washing from line as it ‘looks tacky’

The note, which was addressed to the “tenants”, read: “Is your washing dry? Can you please remove it from outside as it looks tacky.”
Instead of doing what the note asked and removing her washing from the line, the furious mum retaliated with a note of her own.
The mum’s note, which featured a meme of Nicolas Cage at the top, said: “Dear note writer, is your humanity broken? Can you please be a little more understanding of those that do not have the blessings you apparently possess.
“Not everyone living in Elsternwick is of an income where they can run a dryer AND afford to eat or even be ‘able-bodied enough’ everyday to put their own washing away immediately due to disability.
“Your attitude is not only a little tacky but insensitive to the wellbeing of your neighbours.”

The mum, of Elsternwick, Melbourne, then shared the feud on Reddit with many agreeing with her approach to the situation.
Another posted an excerpt from an 1860s etiquette guide which ‘explains’ why washing shouldn’t be hung outside.
It said: “Exposing children to hanging undergarments and unmentionables can have traumatic effects on their upbringing and reduce their capacity for being a desirable partner when coming of age.”
Others suggested ways to improve the appearance of the washing to make it less offensive to the neighbour.
One woman wrote: “You could always add flashing Christmas lights and a wind chime to your clothes horse to smarten it up. It will be so much more appealing for them.”
Others said she should ignore the note and continue to do her washing how she liked.
