After many delays, Jared Leto’s very own Sony Marvel villain solo outing is now set to hit cinemas in January. Just like Tom Hardy’s Venom, Morbius is out in another universe to Disney’s MCU, which contains Tom Holland’s Spider-Man. Although, with all the multiverse madness about to hit the Marvel movies, we wouldn’t be surprised if the Living Vampire will be meeting the Web Slinger soon.

The official synopsis for Morbius reads: “One of Marvel’s most compelling and conflicted characters comes to the big screen as Oscar winner Jared Leto transforms into the enigmatic antihero Michael Morbius.

“Dangerously ill with a rare blood disorder and determined to save others suffering his same fate, Dr. Morbius attempts a desperate gamble.

“While at first it seems to be a radical success, a darkness inside him is unleashed. Will good override evil – or will Morbius succumb to his mysterious new urges?”

Once again, Michael Keaton’s Vulture is in the Morbius trailer, saying he should “stay in touch” with the Living Vampire.

Maybe, Tobey’s Spider-Man has been wrongly accused of murder in his universe too.

But we can’t just assume from this that Morbius is from the same universe as the Sam Raimi trilogy because of other nods.

Firstly, the Daily Bugle paper in the trailer includes the headline “Rhino on the loose. Zoo hoax fools us all.”

Paul Giamatti played the villain Rhino in Andrew Garfield’s The Amazing Spider-Man 2, so could this be an Easter egg referencing him?

On top of that, the Oscorp building features in the trailer, but it’s the same logo from the Marc Webb Spider-Man movies.

Given the connection to all three Spidey universes, maybe Morbius is in just another reality entirely.

Whatever the case, with Venom: Let There Be Carnage’s end credits scene, what could happen next after the events of Leto’s solo movie can certainly be speculated.

WARNING: SPOILERS AHEAD FOR VENOM: LET THERE BE CARNAGE.

Venom 2 ended with Hardy’s Eddie Brock and his symbiote being transported from their Sony universe to the MCU.

We know this for sure since Venom saw Holland’s Spider-Man on a TV news bulletin reference the mid-credits scene of Spider-Man Far From Home.

Given that Hardy’s Venom and other Sony Spider-Man villains from other universes are rumoured to be in Spider-Man No Way Home, including the already confirmed Alfred Molina’s Doc Ock, maybe Morbius will be too?

Morbius hits UK cinemas on January 28, 2022, while Spider-Man: No Way Home is out on December 17, 2021.
