Pirates REVIEW: Reggie Yates makes directorial debut with Inbetweeners inspired adventure | Films | Entertainment
[ad_1]
Seemingly inspired by an old episode of The Inbetweeners, former Radio 1 DJ Reggie Yates’ directorial debut introduces us to three 18-year-old school pals who are desperate to score tickets for a New Year party at a London nightclub.
Kidda (Reda Elazouar) just wants to party, Two Tonne (Jordan Peters) is desperate to impress a girl called Sophie (Kassius Nelson) but Cappo (Elliot Edusah) has a more serious issue on his mind.
As they tear through the capital in a beat-up yellow Peugeot 205, he’s waiting for a rare quiet moment to drop a bombshell ‑ he is quitting as the manager of their UK garage act The Ice Cold Crew.
The three leads share a believable on-screen chemistry and Elazouar’s comic timing wrings laughs out of Yates’s rickety set-up.
