Paul Hird, head of luxury auctions at John Pye Luxury, told Express.co.uk: “The ring consists of emerald cut aquamarine amongst small solitaire diamonds set within 24-carat yellow gold.

“The aquamarine was gifted to Diana by her friend, Lucia Flecha de Lima, and was then commissioned into a ring in 1996 by Asprey.”

Princess Diana wore the Spencer Tiara for her 1981 wedding to Prince Charles and on several occasions afterwards.

The Spencer Tiara doesn’t belong to the Royal Family, as it has been a Spencer family heirloom for some time.

Mr Hird explained: “Belonging to the family for over a century, the Spencer Tiara was eventually passed down to Diana, and like many brides before her, she wore it on her wedding day in July 1981 as a touching family gesture, instead of borrowing one from her new mother-in-law.”
