A new, slightly implausible form of biotechnology has offered Cameron (Ali) the chance to keep this secret beyond the grave. He has agreed to be an early adopter of a new cloning service run by the mysterious Dr Scott (Glenn Close) who has somehow created a fully grown carbon copy of him in an isolated compound. After Cameron has downloaded his memories into his doppelganger, they will swap places.

The copy, who will think he is Cameron, will take on his roles of loving husband and father, while the original lives out the rest of his days in the secret compound. Poppy and Cory will never know a thing.

But, first, Cameron has to spend time with his clone in Scott’s secret facility to make sure they have exactly the same personalities.

Fans of thrillers and B-movies may be disappointed by what follows.

First-time feature director Benjamin Cleary isn’t that interested in plot twists or technology. Instead, he crafts a human drama about grief, identity and human relationships. Meanwhile, Ali explores the big themes with two taut and quietly gripping performances.
