For some stores in the Republic of Ireland and Scotland, lucky shoppers will be able to hit the in-store sale on Boxing Day itself.

This is because stores in these locations will not close on December 26, unlike Next shops in England and Wales.

British Next stores are not alone in closing for the extra day, with many other leading retailers offering staff a chance to wind-down over Christmas.

Sainsbury’s were one of the first supermarket giants to announce the extra days holiday for their staff, who have worked tirelessly throughout the year.
