Hyper Recruitment Solutions (HRS) is a highly compliant, recruitment consultancy dedicated to the Science and Technology sectors. His company aims to find the best scientists to help create life-saving drugs.
HRS turned over a staggering £8million in the 12 months up to June 2018, achieving a 106 percent growth on profit and a 90 percent growth on turnover.
In 2018, Mr Martin led his company to a pre-tax profit of over £1million.
He said: “I couldn’t be prouder of the whole team at HRS who have got us to where we are today.
“To have grown from a company of just one back in 2012 to a business with 50 staff across 3 major UK cities, that makes a difference to so many people, is remarkable.”
DON’T MISS
Lord Sugar commented: “Investing in Ricky was a no-brainer, his understanding of the recruitment industry combined with his passion for business has resulted in the success Hyper Recruitment Solutions sees today.
“Being the first Apprentice winner to hit the £1million pre-tax profit mark is just the start, I know the future is bright for HRS going forward.”
HRS further plan to reinvest the business profit into talent at the business.
They want to focus on growing their specialist workforce and continuing to provide the training and development that is needed to maintain their standards of employing the most professional and ethical recruiters in the industry.
Mr Martin added: “No one is successful the moment they win The Apprentice — their journey is literally just starting.
“Business is hard, and you are not successful until you have made that company work.”
Turning “significant profits”, and having a “sustainable growth plan”, Mr Martin believed it was more than just his impressive figures that showcase why he is “at the top of the podium”.
Not just a one-way system of support, Martin told Startups that he has been “lent on a lot” by Lord Sugar.
He referred to his reoccurring appearances on The Apprentice as both interviewer and mentor as evidence of his place as the most successful Apprentice winner ever.
Believing this brutal honesty to be his best business quality, Martin says Sugar is “a laser-beam for understanding what can go wrong” and can pinpoint problems in areas he may know nothing about.
Despite his directness, Mr Martin admits he has “not had one bad experience” with his billionaire business partner.
He said: “We’re not best friends. We’re not going down the pub having drinks with one another but I’m not looking for that in a business partner.”
