Priscilla said: “Elvis loved Graceland, you all know that. It was the first place he’d come to after a movie, after the shows, after the tours. He would come home. This was home.

“He had a very private life here and when I look back I think, ‘My gosh. How private we lived.’ This was our security. This was not only our home, it was for our friends as well. We had the guys in…very little women. I was the only one little woman! So it was me, the guys and we had our routine. And I think all the time, we’d have our dinner, we’d sit at the table and talk and laugh; watch Johnny Carson. And then after the monologue, head straight to the [movie] theatre. We had a pretty consistent life in that way.

“But as the years go, I think, gosh Elvis was so very private. He came here to be home. He couldn’t wait to be at Graceland. And now the more I come now I see why. It’s just a place of calmness and memories and friends. And we’ve lost quite a few of them.

“I know when we’d come here we’d have the horses, we had the chickens, we had my dogs. It was our own world. It’s where he would completely let go. He didn’t think of anything. He was here in the moment, loving every bit of it and having his fans.”
