Pamela Anderson has confirmed she and Jon Peters have split up – 12 days after their wedding.

The former Baywatch star married 74-year-old film producer Peters in a private ceremony in Malibu last month.

Following reports the couple had broken up over the weekend, Anderson issued a statement to Sky News in which she said the couple had decided to “take some time apart” and “put off the formalisation of our marriage certificate”.

“I have been moved by the warm reception to Jon’s and my union,” she said.

“We would be very grateful for your support as we take some time apart to re-evaluate what we want from life and from one another.

“Life is a journey and love is a process. With that universal truth in mind, we have mutually decided to put off the formalisation of our marriage certificate and put our faith in the process.

“Thank you for respecting our privacy.”

Anderson began dating Peters after her split from footballer Adil Rami last year.

She once described the film producer – who is behind movies such as Flashdance and A Star Is Born – as the “original bad boy of Hollywood” in a poem.

In one line she wrote: “We understand and respect each other / We love each other without conditions. I’m a lucky woman/ proof God has a plan.”

Anderson was previously married to rocker Tommy Lee between 1995 and 1998 and the pair share two adult sons.

She was also married to musician Kid Rock from 2006 until 2007, and married poker player Rick Salomon twice.
