Queen Letizia recycles 1977 dress in ‘beautiful’ tribute to Queen Sofia – ‘charming’

Queen Letizia and her husband King Felipe VI of Spain were photographed together with the President of Spain, Pedro Sánchez, during the official reception in Madrid.

Queen Letizia donned a Valentino dress which was previously worn by her mother in law, Queen Sofia, in 1977.

The vintage gown featured a semi-transparent long sleeve white blouse embroidered with pink flowers, a light pink waistband and a long emerald green skirt.

The Spanish monarch looked stunning in the elegant Valentino design.

Queen Sofia wore the dress during her state visit to Germany over 40 years ago.

The mother-of-two finished the look with a pair of emerald earrings by Spanish designer Tous.

For hair, the monarch opted to style her brown locks in a chic low ponytail.

She wore natural makeup with a dash of mascara and following Covid regulations, the royal was seen wearing a facemask for the whole duration of the event.

Royal fans took to social media to comment on Queen Letizia’s fashion choice and many were amazed the vintage dress was still “in fashion now”.

DON’T MISS

For the first royal engagement of 2022, the monarch opted for a blue floor-length gown and a black faux fur coat by Spanish designer Varela.

The mother-of-two decided to adorn her beautiful dress with the Queen Ena brooch, an iconic piece of jewellery made of pearls and diamonds.

During the military parade, the beautiful brooch fell from Letizia’s dress.

Her husband King Felipe VI quickly helped her recover the jewel as they walked towards the Royal Palace of Madrid.
