Next James Bond: Tom Hardy falls behind in unexpected 007 downfall | Films | Entertainment

[ad_1]

Tom Hardy has already announced he will not talk about whether he will become James Bond after Daniel Craig. Since No Time To Die brought an end to the 007 as fans knew him, Hardy was the most likely actor to take on the role as he sat at the top of the odds, but his lead has now fallen short.

In the latest Bond odds provided by Ladbrokes, Hardy currently has an impressive 4/1 on becoming the spy next. However, these odds are dramatically worse off than they were last month. And now he also has two other major stars steaming ahead in front of him.

Oddly enough, both of the British actors ahead of him are Netflix actors. Could Hardy’s chances finally be over?

At the top of the odds is Regé-Jean Page, who is best known for playing the Duke of Hastings, Simon Basset, in Bridgerton. The Hollywood hunk recently said he was “flattered” fans want him to be Bond, but there wasn’t “any truth” to the rumours – yet. Currently, Ladbrokes have Page at an incredible 11/4 on becoming Bond next.

However, one DC Comics actor is slowly but surely gaining ground on him.

Ladbrokes have given Cavill 3/1 on becoming 007 after Craig. This follows a flurry of bets placed on Cavill over Hardy for the first time this month.

The betting firm’s Alex Apati said: “We’ve seen even more interest in Henry Cavill replacing Daniel Craig over the last few days – we wouldn’t be surprised at all to see him leapfrog Regé-Jean Page into favouritism before the month is out.”

But there are some other notable British names in the running.

Hardy’s third-place spot is followed by Idris Elba in fourth place. The Suicide Squad actor has an impressive 6/1 to become Bond – and Barbara Broccoli, the 007 boss, has already confirmed the Luther actor is “in the conversation” for the next Bond film. But when asked point-blank if he was next in line to be Bond, he replied: “No, I’m not going to be James Bond.”

However, there is hope! When asked if he would like to be Bond, he responded: “Who wouldn’t? How amazing would it be to have a Black James Bond? It’s a sign of the times when we can stop talking about black, white, and colour.”

James Bond No Time To Die is out now on digital, DVD and Blu-ray.
