Those who reside in England are eligible for freebie benefits once they reach the state pension age. Among those benefits include the free bus pass and Pension Credit, which entitles claimants to multiple support schemes. Currently, the retirement age threshold is 66 years old but the Government has confirmed this will rise in the near future. By 2028, the retirement age threshold is set to reach 67 under current Government proposals.

On its website, Entitledto explained how over 60s can apply for their free bus pass and who is responsible for administering it.

The charity states: “Everyone over state pension age and eligible disabled people are entitled to free off-peak local bus travel anywhere in England.

“Local authorities can offer further benefits to their residents and in some areas you can get a pass for free travel if you are over the age of 60 so it is best to check local information.”

Anyone looking to claim this support can log onto the Government’s website to find their local authority’s contact details.
