JK Rowling hits back at claim she doesn’t understand her own Harry Potter books | Books | Entertainment

JK Rowling has become a polarising figure in recent years with her outspoken views on transgenderism.
Most recently she challenged Scotland’s new hate crime law, describing several transgender women (biological males who identify as women) as men on social media.
The Harry Potter author has continued to double down on her opinions in rows with trans activists on X (formerly known as Twitter).
Most recently one wrote to her in an on-going argument thread, claiming the writer should “understand” transgender issues because of the nature of her tales about the boy wizards.
They posted to Rowling: “Side note I think it’s hilarious and ironic that the most successful modern author on a coming of age story where the protagonist realizes they are someone completely different than they were socialized to be, cannot f***ing understand transgender issues. Top 5 irony fails.”
In a viral reply, the Harry Potter author hit back: “One of us didn’t understand my books and I’m going to go out on a limb and say it probably isn’t me.”
Supporters of Rowling replied in the top comments: “These disingenuous loons could turn an episode of Chorlton and the Wheelies into a trans allegory.” Another posted: “Imagine telling the author what she meant from her books.”
