Thousands of young activists have gathered at the BYS4C on College Green today to hear the 17-year-old Swede speak. It is thought that this year’s event in Bristol will be much larger than any other protest in 2020.

Activists have travelled far and wide, including Iverness, to hear the teenager speak. 

It comes after the local police force warned parents of the “potential for trips, slips, falls and crushing”.

Supt Andy Bennett from Avon and Somerset Police said to parents in a letter they were “unable to accurately predict how large this event will be”. 

He claimed the event had “grown so large” meaning the usual safety measures may prove inadequate
