Meghan Markle: Her work ‘distinctly different’ to Kate Middleton’s expert claims

Meghan Markle married into the Royal Family in May 2018. She became the Duchess of Sussex after a two year romance with one of Britain’s most popular royals, Prince Harry, sixth-in-line to the throne.
However, in January this year the Duke and Duchess announced their plans to step down from their roles within the Royal Family.
It came just a few months after Meghan revealed she was struggling with royal life.
In an ITV documentary aired in late 2019, Meghan said of adjusting to her new circumstances: “I never thought it would be easy, but I thought it would be fair. And that’s the part that’s really hard to reconcile.”
The documentary, airing tomorrow night, looks at the scrutiny the couple faced, and suggestions the media was racist in its treatment of the Duchess.

Another contributer, comedian Sophie Duker, noted: “She definitely took a slightly different approach.
“She went to places like Brixton where I think there are a lot of young people and people of colour who are really excited that a royal would be interested in their community and what they have to say.”
Demographically, Brixton has an ethnically diverse population, compared to the average in London.
Meghan visited Brixton in January 2018 with Prince Harry, before the pair were married.
While there they visited a London radio station, Reprezent 107.3FM.
Kate Middleton has done some work with the community affected by Grenfell Tower, though.
In 2019 Kate attended the launch of the National Emergencies Trust, created in response to the Grenfell Tower fire.
Additionally, she attended the Grenfell Tower national memorial service at St Paul’s Cathedral on December 14, 2017.
She also attended the Rugby Portobello Trust’s Christmas party, which hosted those affected by the Grenfell Tower fire.
The Queen and Prince William visited Grenfell Tower days after the fire.
VICE TV’s Meghan Markle: Escaping The Crown is an hour-long special on tonight at 9pm. It looks at the life of Meghan Markle; her rapid rise to becoming the Duchess of Sussex and the subsequent unravelling of the fairytale.
The film confronts issues of race, prejudice, and features interviews with palace insiders and experts including William and Harry’s former butler, the American wives of the British aristocracy, and royal correspondents.
