Freddie Mercury had one of the most impressive singing voices of all time. And now his close friend and collaborator Mike Moran has revealed his best-ever performance. The composer was speaking on the latest episode of podcast video series Finding Freddie, which released today.

Finding Freddie episode 6 is titled Making Barcelona Part 3 and follows the singer’s team up with opera singer Montserrat Caballé.

In the new interview, the song’s composer Moran admitted: “Very few people can sing like Freddie Mercury.

“He’s one of the most unique performers I’ve ever had the fortune to work with.

“Freddie’s an amazing vocalist and he’s got immense range.”

Tim continued: “It’s an abject lesson in confidence, and it’s a kind of confidence that I really didn’t possess.

“If you don’t have that confidence, the chances are you can’t perform as well as Freddie did.”

He added: “I guess it’s a shame that [Smile] never continued.

“We certainly wouldn’t have ever scaled the same heights that Queen did, because it needed Freddie to empower the rest of the band to grant everybody that status. I’m not bitter.”

Queen continues today with Brian May and Roger Taylor, while bassist John Deacon retired over two decades ago.

The duo have been touring with singer Adam Lambert over the last decade or so.

This week they sadly had to postpone their upcoming UK and Europe tour dates due to the pandemic.

Nevertheless, May and Taylor have been performing micro-concerts and giving mini music lessons through their Instagram accounts to keep spirits up under lockdown.
