By the late 1960s, Jones had taken the US by storm and had reinvigorated Las Vegas with his club act.
During his time in the States, he had also befriended Elvis Presley, who remained a good pal up until his death in 1977.
From 1969 until 1971 Jones fronted his own variety TV show, This Is Tom Jones, which proved enormously successful.
In the decades which followed, he had hits with the likes of She’s a Lady, Sex Bomb and You Can Leave Your Hat On.

They later welcomed son Mark Woodward, who would go on to become his manager.
Jones previously revealed that, at the height of his fame, he was sleeping with up to 250 women a year, despite being married at the time.
His wife Linda died in 2016.
