Elvis and the band had only recorded two sessions with RCA Victor by the end of this period, recording eleven tracks in all.
And while his song Heartbreak Hotel was climbing the charts throughout the time leading up to the album release, it was not included on the album and was just a single.
The singles from the album were Blue Suede Shoes, I Got a Woman, I’ll Never Let You Go (Little Darlin’), I Love You Because, Just Because and Money Honey, however all were released on August 31, 1956, sometime after the album had been released in March that year.
The album was released on March 23, 1956, and became the first pop album to earn more than $1million and in the year of its release, it sold more than one million records, a huge number for that time.
