Freddie Mercury party secrets from Munich birthday party revealed | Music | Entertainment

Aside from being an incredibly talented singer, Freddie Mercury was also well known for his amazing parties. And they are the focus of the latest episode of Finding Freddie, a video podcast series on the Queen singer’s life. Wayne Sleep kicks things off talking of Freddie’s annual silly hat party.

The dancer said how you wouldn’t be allowed in if you didn’t make the effort.

On Freddie’s parties Sleep admitted: “Everything was an extravaganza, everything was an event.

“When he was 40 he sent for us in an aeroplane and we flew over absolutely drunk on champagne – I mean who else would do that?”

But it was the Black and White Ball in Munich for his 39th birthday that has to be his most famous party.

Wigg added: “It was very raunchy as the night went on.

“I mean, it went on to six in the morning.

“It was a bit like the fall of Greece!”

Earlier this week, Queen guitarist Brian May gave an update on the possibility of a Bohemian Rhapsody sequel.

Speaking with Rolling Stone, the 72-year-old said: “Don’t think we didn’t think about it.

“We’ve talked. Basically we think not, at the moment. Things could change, I suppose, but I think it would be difficult.”

May admitted he felt a focus on Freddie’s final years wouldn’t be very “uplifting” considering his friend was dying.

He went on to say how although it’s not impossible due to there being a great story there, it’s not the story they want to tell right now.
